Go Green
In June, the windowless cinderblock warehouse that previously occupied the site was deconstructed. Nearly 500 tons of materials were recycled including the asphalt parking lot, concrete slabs and building bricks which were transported less than a mile round trip to be ground up for re-use, several large Doug fir beams were salvaged and will be re-milled 8 blocks away for use within the new Pastaworks store and the building. A smaller out building was moved one block down the alley to become the garage for a single-family home in the neighborhood and the big news is that when the site was cleared and demolition work was completed only one truck of non-recyclable waste had gone to a landfill.

Construction Has Begun
Excavation and civil work began on July 27th. Over the next several weeks Project Superintendent Ed Stanton from Gray Purcell will coordinate and oversee installation of the StormTech underground storm water management system that has been designed to manage 100% of our storm water on-site, Ed will also coordinate and oversee the installation of underground utilities and footings. As work progresses into September and October, we will quickly see structural steel; heavy timber beams, concrete walls and concrete floors begin to form the structural components of the building.
